November Meeting and the Royal Ballet

In November we were delighted to hear from 2 members of the Birmingham Royal Ballet costume department and they bought along these wonderful costumes for us to admire.

It was a privilege to see the costumes up close in so much detail and to have Sam talk us through the construction (yes I mean construction) process never mind the running repairs and darning at the side of the set.

As well as talking about the Nutcracker costumes Sam also had many pictures from current and passed productions we heard about weights and remeasuring of costumes being used for new generations of dancers as well as the making of shoes and masks.

We all agreed that this was an interesting and informative talk and Sam was patient and encouraging with the many questions members had to ask.

The raffle bag was Silver which was fitting with tonight's theme.
