National Stitch Day

We were joined at the Library of Birmingham by the Lady Mayoress Deed Curry.
Lady Mayoress with our chair Bernadette Wilkinson

Deed told us of her interest in stitch which went back to her childhood and behond as she completed  Degree in Fashion and Textile Design, specialising in Embroidery at Birmingham Polytechnic and subsequently worked for Birmingham Costume Hire a company supplying costumes to theatres, film companies and schools all over the country.

Deed  then joined us and our visitors creating leaves to add to the branches of your tree - created by Margaret Richards and using silks from those donated to us from the old library.
