January Meeting Tatile, travelling books and tags galore

Monday was chance to catch up with Travelling books, Tactile Books and Tags.

Members enjoyed looking at the travelling books journey so far and were eager to rejoin and many who hadn't joined in before also became travellers.  We cant wait to see what the next cycle of journeys brings.

We were also able to see the beautiful Tactile  book made by the Edgbaston Group.

The other groups will now be inspired to progress their own books.
If you want more information or would like to join in with a group contact Elizabeth Parker for more information.

 Members continued working on tags:

We had a Red raffle with the normal collection of booty kindly donated by members.

Next month we have  a Tale of Two Members guest starring Elizabeth Parker and Anne Watts,  the raffle will be Orange. See you on February 8th or before that we will be in the Library Of Birmingham on Saturday February 2nd in our normal spot.

More to do in January.....

As well as looking at the progress of Tactile books and Travelling books at Monday's meeting there will be the opportunity to continue with or start more tags for the Regional Day goody bags so please bring along your normal sewing kit and any 'bits' you want to incorporate. We will give a reminder of what is needed and have a supply of items to use.

January 2016 Branch Meeting - Travelling Books & Tactile Books

Happy New Year! We hope you have all had a lovely, relaxing (and hopefully stitch filled!) festive season.

We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead for the branch, including our hosting the Regional Day in June.

The next Branch Meeting, on the 11th of January, will be about a couple of branch projects which have been taking place over recent months:

Travelling Books

Several members have been taking part in our travelling books project, swapping stitching and inspiration in books. In January, we plan to take a look at all these books, so if you have a travelling book please bring it to the January session.

We will also be starting a new round. Several people expressed an interest at the December meeting, and I (Heather) will be creating group lists over the weekend. It is not too late to sign up for the next round, so if you are a branch member and want to take part in the next (5-6 month long) round of travelling books, please email the below info to birminghamemberoiderersguild@gmail.com:

  • Your Name
  • Your contact details (preferred email address or phone number - these will be printed in the book to help people contact you if they need to pass books on outside sessions)
  • Whether you want to work in a book with a set theme or not.

Tactile Books

Several members have also been making tactile books, and we will be taking a look at these at the January meeting.

If you are working on a tactile book, please bring it to the January session, even if it is still a work in progress.

Thank you.
